The Sibling Group is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment for all children and young people who access our services.

 

This policy applies to all employees, trustees, volunteers, temporary staff, and third parties working on behalf of The Sibling Group.

Our Commitment Prioritise the welfare of every child above all else. Ensure all children are protected from abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

 

Respond promptly and appropriately to any safeguarding concerns. Work in partnership with families, carers, and relevant authorities.

Who This Policy Covers All children and young people who attend or interact with our programmes including The Sibling Group Programme, Noah's Ark sensory room, and Oscar's Pathway day provision.

Designated Safeguarding Lead The DSL is responsible for overseeing all safeguarding matters.

Safer Recruitment All staff and volunteers working with children will undergo an enhanced DBS check, provide verifiable references, and receive appropriate safeguarding training.

Recognising Abuse Staff are trained to recognise physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Any concerns must be reported to the DSL without delay.

Reporting Concerns Report immediately to the DSL.

Record in writing as soon as possible. Do not share with anyone other than the DSL unless directed.

If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. For non-emergency referrals: North Yorkshire Children's Services, 01609 780780.

Confidentiality Information will only be shared on a need-to-know basis and in the best interests of the child.
