Our Sibling Groups are for children aged 5–16 who have a sibling with additional needs, but who do not have additional needs themselves. The groups also support children who may have a sibling with a serious illness, or whose sibling has sadly passed away.
We are currently based in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, but are happy to welcome children from the surrounding areas too.
For more information, or to sign your child up to a Sibling Group, please email us at grace@thesiblinggroup.org
Our aims:
Our Sibling Groups aim to encourage children to be independent, confident, build friendships, and be unapologetically themselves. The children attend on their own, away from their siblings, giving them the opportunity to meet other children of similar ages and experiences.
We have created a fun, safe, and welcoming environment where every child is encouraged to thrive. During our sessions, we play games, dance, take part in arts and crafts, enjoy themed days, messy play, baking and cooking, and even go on trips too!

Trips:
Our siblings LOVE trips — and so do we! We arrange visits to age-appropriate attractions in the local area, giving children the opportunity to explore, learn, and have fun together.
More than anyone, we understand the challenges parents can face when trying to divide their time between a child with additional needs and their neurotypical children. Ensuring neurotypical siblings are able to enjoy the same trips and experiences as their peers can sometimes be difficult, especially when certain activities may not always be suitable for children with additional needs.
That’s why we aim to take some of the pressure off parents by organising group trips for our siblings, allowing them to make memories, build friendships, and enjoy new experiences together.

Community:
Our main and biggest aim is to create a community for our siblings. Allowing them to create life-long friendships with others who just 'get it', giving them a sense of belonging and understanding.
