Our Sibling Groups are for children ages 5-16, who have a sibling with additional needs but do not have needs themselves, children who may have a sibling with a serious illness or a sibling that has passed away. We are currently based in Harrogate North Yorkshire but are happy to take children from the surrounding areas too.
For more information or to sign your child up to a Sibling Group please email us at grace@thesiblinggroup.org
Our aims:
Our sibling groups aim to encourage our siblings to be independent, confident, create friendships and be unapologetically themselves. The children attend on their own, away from their siblings to meet other children of similar ages and circumstances. We have created a fun, safe and welcoming environment where all are encouraged to thrive. We play games, dance, do arts and crafts, have theme days, messy play, bake and cook and go on trips too!

Trips:
Our Siblings LOVE trips and so do we! We arrange trips to age appropriate attractions in the local area. We, more than anyone, understand the challenges parents face trying to split their time with their child with additional needs and their neurotypical children. Ensuring that the neurotypical children get to go on the same trips and have the same experiences that their peers do, can be quite a task especially when said trips and experiences aren't always appropriate for children with additional needs. Which is why we aim to try and take some of the pressure off of parents by taking them on group trips, allowing our siblings to explore and learn together!

Community:
Our main and biggest aim is to create a community for our siblings. Allowing them to create life-long friendships with others who just 'get it', giving them a sense of belonging and understanding.
