I’m Lauren and I’ve been a volunteer at Harrogate Sibling Group since February 2024! I began working in early years in 2015 and have gained my foundation degree in early childhood studies. I’m also currently studying for my top up degree, to get my full BA (Hons) in early childhood. I have experience of both early years and primary settings and most recently was a teaching assistant and managed a wraparound care and holiday club scheme for a school in north Leeds, before moving into teaching education, social work and childhood psychology for access to higher education courses. I wanted to support the sibling group to help provide a safe and fun space for children with a sibling with an additional need. It’s been lovely to see the impact the group is having for both the children and their families. Supporting the sibling group has been very rewarding, getting to know all the children and watch the the friendships they are making, whilst providing lots of fun, exciting and enriching experiences. I’m so excited to see what’s in store for the future of the Sibling Group!

Office Manager and Support Worker
Hannah
Hannah has first-hand experience of being a sibling. Her brother has autism and complex needs. Hannah currently works along side our CEO and trustees as our Office Manager, handling the day-to-day running of our charity. She enjoys supporting the sibling group to give siblings like herself some well deserved respite and most importantly have fun!

Positive Behaviour Support Lead
Marshall
Marshall is extremely passionate about supporting people with complex needs. He has experience working with children and adults with SEND in a range of different specialist settings. He has training in Positive Behaviour Support and is working for us to implement strategies to support our service users at Oscar's Pathway.

Support Worker
Alex
I recently moved to Harrogate from the US and heard about the Sibling Group as I was trying to find ways to be involved in my new community. Being a Board Certified Genetic Counselor who has previously specialized in pediatrics and sibling relationships, I knew it was a group I wanted to be involved with! I love the message of the Sibling Group and have seen first hand the affect groups like these can have on kids who may struggle to find others with similar experiences. I have also worked as an aid in an Autism Support classroom, as well as specialty clinics at Boston Children's Hospital including the Down Syndrome, Neuromuscular, and Epilepsy clinics. I am extremely grateful for the ability to work with this team and families in my new home!
