The Sensory Project

Supporting Every Individual to Explore, Communicate and Thrive

A specialist sensory initiative by The Sibling Group

At The Sibling Group, we believe everyone deserves the opportunity to explore the world, communicate in their own way and experience meaningful, inclusive activities. The Sensory Project has been developed to support children, young people and adults with a wide range of sensory, communication and additional needs, as well as those without diagnosed additional needs.

Through sensory experiences, specialist workshops, educational resources and practical training, we aim to make sensory inclusion accessible to everyone.

Our project combines professional expertise, creativity and lived experience to empower individuals, families, educators and care professionals.

Professional Training and Workshops

We are passionate about sharing knowledge and helping others develop the confidence and skills to create inclusive sensory experiences.

Our training is suitable for:

  • Teachers, teaching assistants and SEND professionals

  • Support workers and care professionals

  • Schools, colleges and specialist provisions

  • Parents, carers and families

  • Community groups and organisations

  • Anyone interested in sensory inclusion and communication

Our workshops include:

Introduction to Sensory Storytelling

Learn how to plan, create and deliver engaging multi-sensory stories that support communication, participation and learning.

Supporting Non-Verbal Communication

Explore practical approaches to understanding and supporting individuals who communicate without speech or use alternative forms of communication.

Sensory Inclusion and Understanding Sensory Needs

Develop a greater understanding of sensory differences and discover practical strategies for creating inclusive environments.

We are continually developing our training programme to provide accessible, practical and engaging learning opportunities.

Sensory Resources and Activity Ideas

Alongside our sessions and training, we develop creative sensory resources to help make sensory learning more accessible.

These include:

  • Themed sensory activity packs

  • Sensory storytelling resources

  • Printable educational materials

  • Practical activity guides

  • Sensory play ideas

  • Resources supporting communication and inclusion

Our resources are designed to inspire creativity and make it easier for families and professionals to introduce meaningful sensory experiences into everyday life.

Who Is Behind The Sensory Project?

The Sensory Project is led by Grace Sibanda

(PGCE, QTS, BA, Certified Sensory Inclusion Facilitator),

CEO of The Sibling Group.

Grace is an experienced qualified teacher with a background in

Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND),

alongside specialist training in sensory inclusion.

Her professional experience is complemented by personal lived

experience of disability through her brother, who has autism,

learning disabilities and complex needs.

This combination of professional knowledge and personal

understanding is at the heart of The Sensory Project.

Our approach is centred on recognising individual strengths,

celebrating different ways of communicating and

creating opportunities for everyone to participate.
